Opening hours
- Open every Friday evening
- From September to April: 20:00
- From May to August: 21:00
- Admission starts: 15 minutes before the start
- Closed: on public holidays and between 01 June and 15 July
Please keep in mind that our regular program, especially the introductory lecture, will be given in German. Nevertheless, we usually have enough English-speaking members at the observatory. Just tell us when you enter the building (or send us an e-mail in advance) and we will give you a seperate tour parallel to the lecture. If you are a bigger group (at least 15 people), we can also organize a special tour throughout the week. You find all the necessary information below, at the section „Special guided tour“.
Admission
The observatory does not charge an entrance fee.
As the observatory is run entirely by its volunteer members, we ask for voluntary donations.
Lecture programme
Once a month, instead of the regular introductory lecture on astronomy, there is a lecture on a special topic. We also offer a variety of additional events.
Our lecture program can be found here. While most of the presentations are given in German, members might offer an English version for a special tour throughout the week if you have a group of at least 15 people. For more information, see „Special guided tour“ below.
Accessibility information
Please note that our historic observatory is located on the 3rd to 5th floor of a building that is over 200 years old. Unfortunately there is no lift. Therefore, the observatory is not barrier-free accessible.
Directions
The adress of the observatory is Ägidienplatz 2.
Further information (in German) on how to get there and a map can be found under Directions.
Special guided tour
For groups of 15 or more, we also offer special guided tours outside normal opening hours for a donation. If you would like to come, you can contact us here.
Please note that the observatory is run entirely by volunteers. Therefore, please make your request at least two weeks before the scheduled date. Please understand that not every desired date can be accommodated. In addition, the observatory is not a school facility. If you would like to come with a larger group of children (which you are cordially invited to do), please ensure that there is sufficient supervision.
We usually offer guided tours in German, but with sufficient advance notice it is also possible to book English-language tours.
Please send us your request with the desired date and time and the planned group size to astronomie@sternwarte-regensburg.de.
